Looking for something different? You’ll
find it in Honfleur and Dinan. We spend the first and the last night in Paris, picked up the second day and taken to Honfleur,
Normandy, known for its old, beautiful picturesque port where many of the French artists, such as Gustave Courbet, Claude
Monet painted. We’ll stay there for 3 nights. If anyone wants to take a sidetrip to Normandy Beach, it could be arranged
from Honfleur.
The town of Dinan, Brittany, lies on a hill above the left bank of the Rance, and is still surrounded
by its old walls. The old town with its 15th and 16th C houses and the castle of Anne de Bretagne help preserve something
of Dinan's medieval atmosphere. The castle now houses a historical museum. While in Dinan, we’ll take a one day trip
to the incredible Mont-Saint-Michel, the rocky tidal island., seemingly floating on air. We all know it’s famous
profile.
After a day of painting with Judy, the cobbled stone streets with many shops, cafes and galleries
could keep us occupied for hours. Down the hill to the port du Dinan we will find numerous artisans' shops and quaint restaurants.
Rick Steves
calls Dinan Brittany's best medieval town center.
