DON ANDREWS AWS, NWS 

is a  graduate of the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, a resident of Exeter, NH and is an active member and past board director of the American Watercolor Society.  His paintings have received numerous awards, including three for the American Watercolor Society.  An internationally known artist and teacher, Don has conducted over 200 painting workshops throughout the US, Canada, Mexico and Europe.  He is the author or “Interpreting the Figure in Watercolor,” and “Interpreting the Landscape in Watercolor” as well as the video “Making Watercolor Glow.” , and Watson-Guptill’s “Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about Watercolor” . www.DonAndrews.net

Barbara Nechis is the author of two watercolor books, the latest being WATERCOLOR FROM THE HEART. She will teach many techniques, beginning with a painting demo most days. We will make watercolor sketches on location, painting the essence of architecture and nature, using a variety of subject matter, and then go back to our hotel to finish. An internationally known teacher, author, and award-winning watercolorist, Mel Stabin is a graduate of Pratt    Institute and studied with Ed Whitney.  For over 20 years Mel has conducted watercolor workshops on location throughout the country and abroad.  Mel is a member of many prestigious watercolor societies and has written numerous feature articles for national art magazines.  He is the author of Watercolor, Simple, Fast, & Focused and The Figure in Watercolor:  Simple, Fast, & Focused. 

 

This workshop will reflect the title of Mel’s book, Watercolor: Simple, Fast, & Focused.  Emphasis will be on design principles, composition, and color/value relationships with the objective of building strong paintings by seeing and thinking simply, painting quickly and enthusiastically, and focusing on the “idea” of the painting. The workshop, designed for beginners to advanced students, includes demonstrations with a step-by-step simple explanation of solutions to every problem presented by the subject, personal instruction, and critiques.  Mel paints in a loose, representational style and creates a casual and friendly atmosphere making each workshop a joyful experience.
